Siebert A. and Elizabeth R. McDaniel
This scholarship is established by Siebert who was born in Athens County, Ohio. He graduated from Ames-Bern High School in 1934. He attended Ohio University, Missouri School of Mines, Pittsburg State University, and Central Missouri University, where he received a Specialist Degree. He worked as an educator in the area local schools. He retired in 1981. He was also a high school sports coach and for area youth during summers. He was awarded a Silver Star during World War II, for helping evacuate wounded men under enemy fire. He died on March 17, 2005.
Elizabeth, known as Betty, to her family and friends was born in Lebanon, Missouri. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1942, and attended Central Missouri University in Warrensburg, Missouri. She worked as an accountant, bank teller, and retired as a civil Service employee at Whiteman Air Force Base in 1990. Betty and Siebert McDaniel were married in Lebanon on Novemeber 14, 1942.
