Sarah and Charles Patterson Jr.

The fund was established by Charles Patterson III and Bette Patterson. Charles and Bette are the son and daughter of Charles and Sarah Patterson. This scholarship is established in honor of their parents. Sarah was a child of the Depression Era and was told that she could not return to high school her senior year because she needed to assist with household bills and get a job. It was her lifelong goal to obtain her GED. She returned to State Fair Community College at the age of 68 and received her GED in 1987. This scholarship is to support a GED recipient who is attending SFCC to obtain his or her Associates degree.
